The purpose of the Electronic Records Tutorial is to familiarize all BGSU employees with nature of and guidelines for the
management of electronic records. The following topics will be discussed as related to electronic records:
- Definitions
- Storage and handling
- Security and privacy
- Management
- Disposal and deletion
All new employees (hired after Feb. 1, 2008) are required to participate in the tutorial and must self-enroll. Current employees
(hired before Feb. 1, 2008) are already enrolled and should follow the instructions at the very bottom of this page.
Instructions for new employees on how to self-enroll in the "Electronic Records Tutorial"
- Open a web browser and go to: http://my.bgsu.edu
- Enter your bgnet user name and password
Example: If your name is Jane Smith and your email address is jsmith@bgsu.edu, then your username is jsmith
- Click on the "Courses" tab
- Look for the "Blackboard Course Catalog" box and scroll down on the screen to find a "Browse Course Catalog" link. Click on
the "Browse Course Catalog" link.
- In the "Search Catalog" box, make sure that the first box after the word "Course" says "Name" and that the second box says
"Contains".
- Enter "Electronic Records Tutorial" into the blank box immediately following the words "Course Name Contains".
- Click on the "GO" button on the next line.
- A screen will appear that will look something like this:

Instructions for current employees on accessing the "Electronic Records Tutorial" Blackboard Course
- Open a web browser and go to: http://my.bgsu.edu
- Enter your bgnet user name and password
Example: If your name is Jane Smith and your email address is jsmith@bgsu.edu, then your username is jsmith
- Click on the "Courses" tab
- Under the "Blackboard Course List", under "Courses in which you are enrolled", click on "CRS.LIBRARY.ELEC.REC.TUTORIAL:ELECTRONIC
RECORDS TUTORIAL.
