Alice Prout was the wife of Bowling Green State University President Frank J. Prout, and an active member of the BGSU community. Mrs. Prout was known for her cheerful personality as she provided formal and informal support to both her husband and the campus during the twelve years (1939-1951) of Dr. Prout’s administration. She was active in the Alpha Xi Delta Sorority, Women’s Club, the Faculty Dames club, and the Panhellic Club, working as an advisor to students in many other organizations. Mrs. Prout died in an auto accident in 1953, and a women’s dormitory was dedicated in her name as the Alice Prout Residence Hall in 1955.
