The winners of the fifteenth annual Local History Publication Awards sponsored by the Center for Archival Collections at Bowling Green State University have been announced. David C. Skaggs was awarded the prize for Academic Scholars for his book, Oliver Hazard Perry: Honor, Courage, and Patriotism in the Early U.S. Navy.. The Independent Scholar award was presented to Kenneth R. Dickson for his work, ...Nothing Personal Just Business...:Prohibition and Murder on Toledo's Mean Streets. This category also saw an Honorable Mention going to Rita Turnwald for her book History of Ottoville and Vicinity, 1845-2001. The winning entry in each division receives a $300 cash award.

The annual contest was established to encourage and recognize authors of outstanding publications about northwest Ohio history. For more information about the award or submitting an entry for next year, see the Local History Publication Award. Winners from past years have been:
