Tiffin Sept. 6th 1863
Dear Friend Sallie
It has been a long time since we have parted and many are the changes that have taken place. I have now been in Tiffin nearly a year and it is too bad that I have not Written sooner for old friends and Schoolmates should be more sociable. I knew you lived but a little distance from Bettsville I seen some people from there which said they were acquainted with you. I came out here last fall with my friends I taught a school here this summer I am staying at my cousins Mr. J. W. Reems in Tiffin. he says he is acquainted with some Cessnas near Kansas. I supose they are your friends I have no doubt you have been in Tiffin since I have been here. Mr. McCareys are distantly related to Mr. Reems.
Mrs. Sarah Heilters was here once this summer I asked her whether she knew any thing about you she said you was at their house visiting the day or two before but I did not get to see her when she left to send any word to you. Sade nearly every body about Goshen and Green in fact nearly all the young folks we used to know are married. I sopose you heard Jerry Saxon is married Dave Durr and John Durr and King Wilson Will Eilder in fact nearly every body (-----) Dill Wilson was wounded at the battle of Murfreesborough and died and was buried at home. Perhaps you have heard all these things before, Oh, Sade I would like to come and see you before I go home If have any way of coming or sending for me I will come and then we will have a good old talk.
Please answer immediately for I think of going home in a few weeks come and see me soon
