Dear Sir
I'm of the 24th ultimo duly rec'd
At this date it is impossible for me to go back of my official report of the "Battle of Chickamauga". After an elapse of 26 years it is hardly probable that my memory should be as good, in details, as it was when the official report was made. I, therefore, don't see that I can make any alteration or addition to my official report. If I could not give it to you in 1864. It is hardly possible to do so in 1890.
I regret that I cannot give you the information you desire.
Very Respectfully
Your obt servant
Jon: Brannan
