George Kryder Papers - MS 163: Transcripts
Poem
A poem. No date, location, or author (not George Kryder's handwriting)
God never would send us the darkness
If he thought we could bear the light
But we would not yield to his guiding Hand
If the way was always bright.
And we would not care to walk by faith
Could we always walk by sight
Tis true he has many a burden
For your weary Heart to bear
And many a cruel Thorn crown
For the tired head to wear
For he knows how few would search heaven at all
If pain did not guide them there.
So he sends us the binding darkness
And the furnace of Seven fold heat
Tis the only way, believe me
To keep you close to his feet
For 'tis always so sweet to wander
When life is glad and sweet.
Then nestle your hand in your Fathers'
And sing if you can as you go
Your song may cheer some one behind you
When courage is ebbing low
And Well if your lips do quiver
He will love you the better so
