Introduction
The records of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 1914 - 2002, were transferred for microfilming to the Center for Archival Collections,
Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, Ohio 43403, in May 2002, with the cooperation of Reverend Bruce L. Farmer of
St. Elizabeth Catholic Church.
The collection consists of baptisms*, first communions, confirmations, marriages*, and deaths. Due to inconsistencies in pagination and transcription of data, researchers are encouraged to refer to all volumes
within each series. (See order of microfilming for a detailed list of these records.)
This register and this collection was prepared by Rachel Diegel in May 2002.
*There is a seventy (70) year access restriction on baptism and marriage records. No restrictions apply to the remainder of
this collection.
Agency History
In 1914, a small group of Catholics living in Richfield Center, Ohio began petitioning the Diocese for a church of their own.
The petition was granted and the congregation began to build their church building. The church was completed in October of
1914. The parish received their first resident pastor that year as well. His name was Reverend Francis C. Schmuck. When the
parish received their pastor they began to care for the Mission of Sylvania. This relationship lasted until 1917, when Sylvania
received a resident priest. In 1982, the parish of St. Elizabeth lost their resident pastor and became a sister parish of
Marygrove. They remain sister parishes to the present.
