*There is a seventy (70) year access restriction on baptism and marriage records. No access restrictions apply to the remainder of this collection.
Assumption Catholic Church began in 1867, when 20 families from the St. Michael parish in Thompson built their own church in Reed, Ohio. Their first church was completed in the fall of 1867. This parish was served, as a Mission, by St. Michael Catholic Church.
In 1903, Assumption received their first resident priest, Father Constantine Vogelman. In 1907, the parish's first church burned to the ground. The congregation chose to rebuild the church and it was completed in 1908.
In 1985, Assumption became a sister parish of St. Michael Catholic Church in Thompson, now know as Marywood, Ohio.
