Introduction
The First Families of Ohio Collection was transferred for microfilming to the Center for Archival Collections, Bowling Green
State University, Bowling Green, Ohio, with the cooperation of the Ohio Genealogical Society, Mansfield, Ohio (Tom Neel, Director)
in September 1992.
The collection consists of genealogical information submitted to the Ohio Genealogical Society by members of the First Families.
First Families members must show that an ancestor was living in Ohio by 1820.
Within each member's folder are the documents submitted to prove that one or more ancestors were living in Ohio by 1820. Items
found in the collection consist of many types of vital information including birth certificates, death certificates, marriage
records, and tombstone inscriptions.
The collection is arranged in numerical order by the number assigned to a member at the time membership is accepted. An alphabetical
index is located on a separate roll.
