Introduction

The records of the Eckhardt Monument Company, Tiffin, Ohio were transferred to the Center for Archival Collections, Bowling Green State University for microfilming in December 1984, with the cooperation of Mr. Greg Smith, Fostoria Monument Company, Fostoria, Ohio, and Mrs. Rebecca Hill, Tiffin, Ohio. The collection consists of sixteen volumes of grave monument order records dating (with the first order) from June 1903 to August 1963. The monument order records include such information as name and address of the person ordering the monument, name and location of the cemetery, design (occasionally with drawings) of the monument and the writing requested which frequently includes the name, birth and death dates of the buried person. Total costs of the monument also are provided in the records.

No restrictions exist on the research use of this collection. This finding aid was prepared by Ann Bowers in December 1984.
