According to information provided by the First United Methodist Church, Troy, Ohio, services were first held around 1810 in a carpenter shop at Water and Clay Streets. In 1812 a log building was built at Main and Clay where services were held for 11 years. A one story brick church built on Mulberry Street in 1825 replaced the log building. A second church was erected in 1839, next to the original one on Mulberry Street when the congregation out grew the first. The first church was then used as the parsonage. This church was renovated between 1863 and 1865 to accommodate the growing congregation. Then a fire completely destroyed the church on Easter Sunday in 1899. In June of the same year ground breaking ceremonies took place to begin building the present church. The cornerstone was laid on November 2, 1899.
The above history was compiled based on information obtained from the First United Methodist Church, Troy, Ohio.
