Infantry Units: 182nd Ohio Volunteer Infantry
Infantry units were recruited from all over the state. Those represented in detail here are the ones recruited primarily from northwest Ohio counties and those whose members wrote to local newspapers. More information will be added as it becomes available.
This Regiment was organized in the State of Ohio at large from August 4-October 27, 1864 to serve one year. On November 1st, the Regiment was ordered to move to Nashville, TN and on November 6th, joined General Sherman's forces at that place. The 182nd took part in the Battle of Nashville, where it remained performing guard and provost duty until July 7, 1865, when it was mustered out in accordance with orders from the War Department.
