Company F, 9th OVC
Captain Joseph McCutcheon, Company F, 9th OVC
Joseph McCutcheon was born February 21, 1798. He moved to Crawford Co., Ohio and by the early 1830s was justice of the peace and served as an agent for the Wyandot tribe in the last years before their removal from Ohio. He witnessed the signing of the Treaty of McCutcheonville, Ohio with the Wyandots on January 19, 1832 in which one band of the tribe sold what was known as the "Big Spring Reservation" in southern Seneca and western Hancock Counties granted them by an earlier treaty, and agreed to leave the state for Canada or points west.
He recruited Co. F, 9th Ohio Volunteer Cavalry, enlisting on September 1, 1863
and receiving his commission as Captain to date September 18, 1863. He took part
in the skirmishes and scouts of the 9th Ohio until his resigned his commission
effective September 24, 1864. He died March 13, 1869 and is buried at Old Mission
Cemetery, Wyandot Co., Ohio.

First Lieutenant Enoch L. Mann, Company F, 9th OVC
Enlisted, age 33, June 14, 1864 for 3 years service. Appointed 2nd Lieutenant
from civil life; promoted to 1st Lieutenant February 10, 1865, mustered out
with company.

Sergeant Lyman C. Moody, Company F, 9th OVC
Lyman C. Moody was born November 22, 1842 in DeKalb Co., Indiana to Timothy
and Susan (Bowsier) Moody, the family moving to Wyandot Co., Ohio in 1845. Lyman
enlisted as a Private in Co. F, 9th Ohio Volunteer Cavalry on August 16, 1863 and
was mustered into service September 18, 1863. He soon promoted to Sergeant and
took part in the many skirmishes and scouts of the 9th Ohio Cavalry while attached
to Sherman's army. He mustered out July 20, 1865 at Lexington, North Carolina. He
returned home to Wyandot County and soon married Mills Lucretia Ewing on March 14,
1867, having three children. A devoted Methodist and successful farmer, Lyman C.
Moody died November 16, 1900 and is buried in Oak Hill Cemetery, Upper Sandusky,
Wyandot Co., Ohio.

Private Emmett Hammer, Company F, 9th OVC
Emmett Hammer enlisted as an 18 year old private in Co. F, 9th Ohio Volunteer
Cavalry on August 7, 1863, mustering in September 18, 1863. He took part in the
many skirmishes and scouts of the 9th Ohio while attached to Sherman's army. He
mustered out with the regiment July 20, 1865 at Lexington, North Carolina.

Private Robert W. Morris, Company F, 9th OVC
Robert W. Morris enlisted as a musician in Co. G, 15th Ohio Volunteer Infantry
on April 20, 1861 and mustered into service April 27, 1861. He served with the
regiment through the summer campaign of 1861 and mustered out August 28, 1861.
He later enlisted as a 25 year old Private in Co. F, 9th Ohio Volunteer Cavalry
on January 4, 1864 and was mustered in the same day. He took part in many of the
skirmishes and scouts of the 9th Ohio while attached to Sherman's army and mustered
out July 20, 1865 at Lexington, North Carolina.

Captain William Stough, Company H, 9th OVC
Enlisted, age 42, as Captain to serve three years on November 2, 1863. Promoted
to Major, September 8, 1864.
