Chaplain George D. Oviatt
George D. Oviatt enlisted as a 41 year old Private in Company G, 87th Ohio
Volunteer Infantry on May 27, 1862, mustering into service June 10, 1862. He was
promoted to the post of regimental Chaplain on June 30, 1862, and in this capacity
was captured along with the rest of the regiment on September 16, 1862 at Harper's
Ferry. He was soon paroled and mustered out October 4, 1862.

First Sergeant Edward Calkins
Edward Calkins enlisted as a 25 year old First Sergeant in Company E, 87th
Ohio Volunteer Infantry on June 2, 1862, mustering into service June 10, 1862.
Captured with the entire regiment at Harper's Ferry on September 16, 1862, he
was soon paroled and mustered out October 3, 1862.
