Simon B. Norris enlisted as an 18 year old Private in Company C, 41st Ohio
Volunteer Infantry on September 19, 1861, mustering into service the same.
Following his reenlistment in 1864, he was promoted to Corporal July 9, 1864 and
Sergeant December 9, 1864. He was mustered out November 27, 1865 at Camp Chase,
Columbus, Ohio.

Volunteer Infantry on September 2, 1861, mustering into service October 29, 1861.
Wounded in action April 7, 1862 at the Battle of Shiloh, he resigned his commission
September 9, 1862.
