Infantry Units: 32nd Ohio Volunteer Infantry

Infantry units were recruited from all over the state. Those represented in detail here are the ones recruited primarily from northwest Ohio counties and those whose members wrote to local newspapers. More information will be added as it becomes available.

This Regiment was organized near Mansfield, Ohio from August 20 to September 7, 1861 to serve three years. Company F was permanently detached December 22, 1863 as the 26th Independent Battery, Ohio Light Artillery, and a new Company F was organized in February and Marhc 1864. On the expiration of the term of service of the regiment, the original members (except veterans) were mustered out, and the organization, composed of veterans and recruits, retained in service until July 20, 1865, when it was mustered out in accordance with orders from the War Department.
