John H. Thompson enlisted as a 37 year old Private in Company G, 16th Ohio Volunteer Infantry on November 4, 1861, mustering into service the same day. He was mustered out October 31, 1864.

Kalida Sentinel- 3/5/1863
George Upton Harn enlisted as a 41 year old Captain in Company I, 16th Ohio Volunteer Infantry on December 1, 1861. He was killed in action December 29, 1862 during the Battle of Chickasaw Bayou, Mississippi and is buried at Vicksburg National Cemetery.
