Using Google Scholar through the University Libraries

Locate full text when using Google Scholar by clicking on the "OLinks" links. Change your Scholar preferences to add RefWorks or OLinks when off campus.

On Campus
When on campus, Google Scholar automatically displays "OhioLINK OLinks" and/or "Find it with OLinks" links in your search results. Click on those links to find the full text of articles, to link to interlibrary loan or to search the OhioLINK catalog for books.

Off Campus: Add Find it!, RefWorks and Open WorldCat
To display OLinks links when using Google Scholar from off campus, use the Google Scholar search box from the library's home page. You will be prompted for your BGSU login and will be able to search as if you were on campus.

Alternately, you can change your Google Scholar preferences so that links to OLinks display from off campus.

  • Go to Google Scholar
  • In the upper right, click on Settings and scroll down to Bibliography manager.
  • Select "Show links to import citations into" and use the dropdown box to choose RefWorks

Now scroll up again a bit and click on Library links in the left column. Add the following three libraries:

  • Bowling Green
  • OhioLINK
  • Open WorldCat

Your actual choices should match these names:

  • Bowling Green State University - Find it! at BGSU
  • OhioLINK - find it with OLinks
  • Open WorldCat - Library Search

Click save to save your new Scholar settings.

Now when you use Google Scholar you will be recognized as someone who wants to see BGSU content, will be able to quickly connect into the relevant database to find what you need, and then be able to import those citations into your RefWorks account.
