Content Description:  State trials and proceedings held in Great Britain from 1163 to 1820. These materials were collected by William Cobbett and edited by Thomas Bayly Howell. Reels 9 and 10 contain Reports of State Trials of England, New Series, 1820-1858. Most of the trials were for treason. It includes articles of accusation, impeachments, warrants for execution, and proceedings which sometimes include transcripts. This collection includes trials of many famous people, such as Sir Thomas More, Queen Anne Boleyn, and Thomas Wolsey. It also includes other kinds of proceedings such as the dissolution of King Henry VIII's marriage to Catherine of Aragon.
