Content Description:  A reproduction of the Calendar of State Papers, Colonial Series, edited by W. Noel Sainsbury and published in 1860. The collection consists of a description of correspondence taken from the offices of the Secretaries of State. Some of the abstracts of the letters and documents are lengthy. This collection deals with British colonies, such as the West Indies, America, the East Indies, Japan, China, and Persia. The series begins in 1574 during the reign of Elizabeth I and ends in 1733 in the reign of George II. Topics covered include travels, business and economy, governance, slavery, piracy, agriculture, boundary disputes, relations with Native Americans, immigration, industries, relations with other colonial powers, etc.
