Fanzines

The term "fanzine" and its close relative "zine" are difficult to define precisely, but in practical terms, they are periodicals that produced by individuals and organizations for the purpose of promoting recreational or hobby interests in various cultural objects or activities. "Zines" have been produced on subjects ranging from Star Trek and other television programs to mail art. The Fanzine Collection in The Browne Popular Culture Library contains nearly 1,500 titles (over 7,000 individual issues), and with additional titles and issues being added monthly.
