In honor of the 100th anniversary of Bowling Green State University, three staff members from the University Libraries have created eight unique wall-sized quilts using historical photos of the BGSU campus. These quilts are one-of-a-kind creations perfect for any BGSU lover and are ideal to display at home or in the office.

Tickets are available for $1.00 for one chance, and $5.00 for six chances. They are available by mail and at select library campus and community events. The quilts will be displayed at the library from February 1 through November 9, 2010 and online. All proceeds will be donated to the University Libraries Deck Renovation Project and the University Libraries Classified Staff Student Scholarship Fund.

**Raffle tickets are double-sided. One half will be mailed back to you and the other put into the raffle. There will be a log of all names/ticket numbers.
 
Ticket sales will begin February 1, 2010. All mailed entries must be postmarked by October 29, 2010. The drawing will be held on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at the University Libraries Centennial Celebration luncheon.

Quilt 1 
Five photos of buildings located on the BGSU campus are incorporated into this quilt, which is based on a traditional Chinese Coin quilt pattern (also called Roman Coin or Stacked Coin). This scrappy quilt includes many shades of brown, as well as orange, green and purple. The coin strips are separated by light tan sashing. Quilt is machine-quilted. BGSU Centennial label is located at the bottom center; maker’s label on back.

Quilt 2
Five photos of buildings located on the BGSU campus are framed in dark red-brown geometric fabric connected by a 3-color bar (orange, soft chartreuse and batik light brown fading into green) with flying geese (in dark green, dark purple and dark brown) in the center on a crème background. Quilt is machine-quilted. BGSU Centennial label is located near upper left; maker’s label on back.

Quilt 3
Five archival quality photos of BGSU buildings -- ranging in size from 4 X 7” to 11 ½ X 11 1/2” -- are framed in brown, orange, and green-toned fabrics, incorporating a variety of quilt blocks with pinwheels being the most prominent block design. Machine-quilted. BGSU Centennial logo and maker’s label are appliquéd onto the back.

Quilt 4
One approximately 4” X 7” archival quality photo of BGSU’s Little Red Schoolhouse is framed in autumn shades of brown, gold, and orange. The Ohio star blocks are combined with nine-patches and a variety of strips and squares to give an overall mosaic–like effect. Machine-quilted. BGSU Centennial logo and maker’s label are appliquéd on the back.

Quilt 5
Three archival quality photos of BGSU buildings (each approximately 4” X 7”) are framed in a riot of red, green, gold, and pine cone brown “Christmasy” fabrics. Photos are surrounded by an inner border of tiny multi-colored squares. Larger square-in-a-square quilt blocks balance each side, with a final pine cone border anchoring the finished piece. Machine-quilted. BGSU Centennial label and maker’s logo are appliquéd onto the back.

Quilt 6
One approximately 4” X 7” archival quality photo of BGSU’s Bell Tower is set off by cinnamon-colored inner borders followed by a gold, brown, and orange oriental flower print border and a classic black and gold oriental print border. Feathery strips incorporating the gold, brown, orange, and black fabrics frame this medley of East and West motifs. Machine-quilted. BGSU Centennial label and maker’s logo are appliquéd onto the back.

Quilt 7
This quilt was constructed of tan, brown and orange color variations with a Rail Fence and Stars pattern containing five pictures of BGSU buildings. The most prominent picture on the quilt is the William T. Jerome Library at 16 ½ “ w x 10 ¾” h. In addition, the quilt displays photos of Saddlemire Building, Bowen-Thompson Student Union, Little Red Schoolhouse, and Ice Arena each being 7” w x 5” h. This quilt was hand quilted and contains the BGSU Centennial logo and maker’s label on the back side of the quilt.

Quilt 8
This quilt is a one-of-a kind pattern containing shades of the traditional BGSU orange and brown. The quilt contains three 5 x 7 pictures in addition to the BGSU Centennial logo. This commemorative piece was hand quilted with the maker’s label on the back side.
