Gwen Evans

About

Gwen Evans received her M.S. in Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign in 2002 (LEEP 5.0). She also has an M.A. in Cultural Anthropology from the University of Chicago (1993) and spent 2 years on the island of Flores in Indonesia doing fieldwork on local and global mission Catholicism. Research interests are in user behavior in digital environments, non-textual discovery and access methods in the library, and emerging technologies in information seeking.

Her publications include chapters in Graphic Novels and Comics in Libraries and Archives (2010, McFarland) and The Frugal Librarian: Thriving in Tough Economic Times (2011, ALA), as well as articles in Music Reference Services Quarterly, Library Resources and Technical Services, and reviews in The  Charleston Advisor. She has presented at LITA National, ALAO, OVGTSL, Educause Midwest and Educause National,  and has been twice been a panelist at ALA National on Emerging Technologies. She is a founding member of the ACRL TechConnect Blog.

She is a past Chair and current member of the OhioLINK Digital Resource Management Committee, the statewide committee which advises on the development of the OhioLINK Digital Resource Commons, the statewide academic multi-institutional repository.
