A new era of service is emerging as the U.S. ushers in a new president. It is an exciting time for those already involved
in service. We will most likely find ample opportunities to be more visible and more vocal about service accomplishments.
With service at the forefront, we should feel that our work is even more appreciated.
In the college’s semiannual newsletter, our goal is to share the good news of our graduates, students, faculty and friends,
and to demonstrate our appreciation for the work that is being done. In this issue, we write about some alumni who are making
a difference by helping others. We also tout our past and future lectures that benefit area professionals, and we have a strong
contingent of students who convey their appreciation for the funds they have received from the college’s Pillars grant program.
I am proud to be connected to so many students, alumni and friends of the College of Health and Human Services who know the
value of service to others in their work and in their volunteer time. You are involved in everything from nursing, communication
disorders and gerontology to criminal justice, sociology and other allied health services.
I also would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who responded to the call for BGSU’s Building Dreams Campaign
during the past seven years. The University exceeded its overall goal, besting by more than $26 million the $120 million goal
that was established. Additionally, the College surpassed its $1 million goal as well, thanks to the generosity of so many
alumni and friends. For those who helped make this dream a reality, I invite you to attend the campaign finale April 25. Additional
information about the event will be available soon on the BGSU Web site (www.bgsu.edu).
Warm regards,
Linda Petrosino
