Dr. Marjorie Conrad Peatee knows first-hand the importance of professionals in allied health care, which is why she created a scholarship in the College of Health and Human Services. The scholarship, in her name, supports a rising junior or senior student majoring in an allied health professions major, such as applied health science, pre-physical therapy, pre-occupational therapy, medical technology, communication disorders, social work and gerontology.

As the first female physician and hospital chief-of-staff in Bowling Green, she spent her entire career in the Bowling Green area helping people with their medical needs. Quality care from start to finish was always key to her medical philosophy.

“I realized how important allied health professionals are to patients and to doctors. Patients often need other things to finish their treatments and these professionals can provide top-quality care,” she said. Helping students achieve those career goals is the reason she created the scholarship.

“Today’s cost for a college education is pricey. It wasn’t easy to have funds when I was in school and today it is even more difficult. I believe funds should be available to help students when they need it,” she explained.

The retired physician, who was awarded an Honorary Alumnus Award in 2004, also supports a scholarship for pre-med students in the College of Arts and Sciences, and an art song competition in the College of Musical Arts.
