Pemberton Scholarship recipient Rebecca Weichel

Dr. Harold McGrady ’54, who graduated with a double major in speech and hearing therapy and drama, established a scholarship for a student studying communication disorders. His story can be read by visiting www.plan.gs/Article.do?orgId=430&articleId=6829

Receiving the McGrady scholarship this year is Megan Smith of Jackson, Mich. She is working on a master’s degree in communication disorders with plans to become a speech-language pathologist in a school setting. She hopes to help children who are struggling with difficulties in communication.

Tom '61 and Cindy '61 Pemberton have created several scholarships at BGSU through a charitable lead trust. They are supporting scholarships for students entering the physical therapy profession, as well as business majors and one for the Alumni Laureate Scholars program. To read more about the Pembertons visit www.plan.gs/Article.do?orgId=430&articleId=6094.

Rebecca Weichel of Sandusky, Ohio, is the recipient of the Pemberton physical therapy scholarship. She is a senior in the applied health science degree program, with an entrepreneurship minor. She's also a member of the University Honors program and works as a resident advisor in Dunbar Hall. She participated in an alternative spring break trip to New Orleans to help with Hurricane Relief projects and is a member of the BGSU Social Justice Committee. After receiving her bachelor’s degree, she plans to attend a physical therapy program.
