5 public health graduates lead local departments

Public health isn’t neat and tidy with one patient to cure at a time. Public health tackles the massive, messy, complicated job of keeping entire communities healthy. And the people who chose public health careers must be ready to juggle everything from flu shot shortages to mega dairy farms.

To be prepared for administrative careers in community health, five health commissioners from northwest Ohio counties earned masters of public health from the Northwest Ohio Consortium.

Nursing student crusades against kids cancer
Sending packages with packs of play-doh, crayons, CDs, hats, games and sheets of stickers to children with cancer is something Jennifer Lehmann of Fremont is passionate about and enjoys doing on a regular basis.

State dept. official leads Advocates
William Harper ’76, who chairs the College of Health and Human Services Advocates, is assistant director of the Ohio Department of Mental Health. He was appointed by Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland on May 7.
