CHHS News
The College of Nursing had a strong presence of 15 students and two faculty advisor attend the National Student Nurse Convention. Students attended educational sessions on Pharmacy Made Easy, Test Taking Strategies, NCLEX review and more. They also attended the daily plenary sessions that highlighted National Speakers including the ANA president, Rebecca Patton, Carol Ramona, Chief Nurse Officer of US Public Health Service and Senior Advisor for clinical research informatics of NIH.
Second, please join me in congratulating Brent Straley in receiving the National Student Nurse Association Isabel Hampton Robb Leadership Award. The award was announced at the opening session last Thursday. It was such a thrill to see him recognized at a national level for the leadership qualities we have been able to witness ourselves here at the College of Nursing.
Amy Sharp should also be commended for her extraordinary efforts as campaign manager for Jill Beasley who is one of the Ohio Student Nurse board members who ran for and won the National Student Nurse Vice President position. Amy spent endless hours campaigning and supporting her candidate and represented the College of Nursing well in the process.
Also, Amy and Kyle Ducey were our delegates and spent hours a day in the House of Delegates reviewing and voting on bylaws, national resolutions and nationals offices. The dedication and commitment is commendable.
Leanne Wood is to be commended for her efforts as our convention planner. Leanne undertook planning and organizing registration, room assignments, transportation, budgets, etc. Her organization and leadership skills is greatly responsible for such a great turn out of 15 students being able to attend.
