Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders
The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at Bowling Green State University is seeking two tenure-track faculty
members to contribute to the department’s forward momentum. Individuals are sought to foster further development in educational,
research and clinical training in our undergraduate, master’s, and Ph.D. programs. The departmental faculty is engaged in
a wide range of teaching (mentoring of Ph.D. students, specialty clinics for in-depth clinical instruction, innovative teaching
models, etc.) and research activities (e.g., successful internal and external funding, collaborative research locally, nationally,
and internationally, and significant scholarly publication). The department is housed in a recently renovated building with
new academic, clinic, and research facilities. The Department and the College of Health & Human Services are committed to
providing an environment that promotes collaboration and multiple opportunities for professional excellence. The department

Description:
Both positions are for the rank of Assistant Professor in Communication Sciences and Disorders, Speech-Language Pathology
emphasis, available August 2010. Tenure-track, academic year (nine-month) appointment with possible summer employment, if
desired.
Qualifications:
Position 1: Earned doctorate in Communication Sciences and Disorders or related field; CCC/SLP and Ohio License (or eligible) preferred.
Focus in adult and/or child neurogenic communication disorders, medical speech pathology or closely related area. The successful
applicant must either have demonstrated, or be able to show strong potential for, an externally funded research program.
Position 2: Earned doctorate in Speech-Language Pathology or related field; CCC/SLP and Ohio License eligibility required. Area of
interest is open; candidates with strong credentials in clinical research will receive first preference. Interest in establishing
a specialty clinic and/or research in evidence-based practice highly desirable. The successful applicant must have or show
potential for a strong, externally funded research program.
Responsibilities:
Teach undergraduate, master’s, and Ph.D. courses in areas of expertise; conduct research in areas of expertise; seek extramural
funding; participate in related service, scholarly and clinical activities, as applicable. For position 2, there is an expectation
that this individual will have an interest in clinical teaching.

Departmental Information:
The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders is one of nine departments/programs in the College of Health and Human
Services. The Department offers a B.S. in communication sciences and disorders, an M.S. in speech-language pathology, and
a Ph.D. in communication sciences and disorders. The master’s program received CAA re-accreditation for 2003-2011. CDIS has
approximately 150 undergraduate, 45 master’s, and 9 doctoral students. It has 13 full-time (10 tenure-track) and 6 part-time
faculty. The Department’s Speech and Hearing Clinic is a vital part of the program, providing opportunities for students to
gain supervised experience in clinical service delivery.

Department Chair, Public and Allied Health
Bowling Green State University
Position Description: The Department of Public and Allied Health in the College of Health and Human Services, Bowling Green State University,
Bowling Green, OH is seeking applicants for the department chair. This is a 12-month, tenure/tenure-track position at the
full or associate professor level. Applicants must have expertise in public health administration, public health policy, health administration, health policy,
or leadership in a health field. Primary responsibilities include: 1) departmental leadership, budgeting, personnel supervision,
curriculum management, and administrative duties as assigned by the dean. 2) Teaching courses related to the candidate's area
of expertise. 3) Research, grant writing and other scholarly activity. 4) Student advising in the MPH and Applied Health Science
degree programs. 5) University and professional service.
Qualifications: An earned doctorate in a relevant discipline is required. Also required is evidence of ability to teach and conduct research
effectively. In addition an MPH, MHA, or MBA is desirable.

The department is responsible for the Bachelor of Medical Technology and Bachelor of Applied Health Science. The AHS degree
has six areas of specialization; applied microbiology, health science, allied health, community health, health care administration,
and respiratory care, and has over 250 students enrolled. The department is also responsible for the public health administration
major of the Master of Public Health degree offered jointly with the University of Toledo. The main office of the National
Association of Local Boards of Health is located in the city of Bowling Green, and is closely connected with the MPH program.
The medical technology (CLS) program is affiliated with 12 regional hospitals that work closely with the program. Together

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR, SOCIAL WORK PROGRAM
The Social Work Program at Bowling Green State University invites applications for a tenure track position at the rank of
Assistant Professor. The Program seeks an individual committed to undergraduate social work education in a fully accredited
BSW Program.
Qualifications: An MSW degree from an accredited social work program and a doctorate in social work or closely related field.
Preference will be given to individuals with at least two years post-MSW direct practice experience. ABD candidates may be
considered if completion is expected prior to August 2010. The ideal candidate would be an individual with demonstrated teaching
and research interests in social policy, community practice, and social work in health care.
Responsibilities: Teaching, scholarship, advisement, active participation in program governance, generalist curriculum development
and community service. Teaching responsibilities will include social policy and community practice.
The Program: The Social Work Program at BGSU is housed in the Department of Human Services (with Gerontology and Criminal
Justice). The curriculum incorporates a commitment to social justice and diversity. The Department places a high value on
cross-disciplinary teaching and scholarship. The Social Work Program emphasizes collaborative research with its community

CRIMINAL JUSTICE PROGRAM
The Criminal Justice Program at Bowling Green State University invites applications for a tenure track Assistant professor position beginning August 2010. This position is in support of both the undergraduate and graduate programs in Criminal Justice.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach classes, conduct scholarly research and participate in advising and service
functions. Classes typically have a maximum of 30 students. The ideal candidate will be able to teach crime prevention
and intro-level graduate statistics. Other courses are open. Research interests can be in any substantive area of criminal
justice. Responsibilities include teaching at the graduate and undergraduate level; conducting research; student advising
and program/university service.
Candidates are required to hold a Ph.D. in Criminal Justice/Criminology or a closely related field. ABD candidates may be
considered if degree completion is expected prior to August 2010. Those with a J.D. degree alone will NOT be considered for
the position.
The Program:
The Criminal Justice Program at BGSU offers both undergraduate and graduate degrees in Criminal Justice. The department has
a normal complement of eight tenure track faculty serving roughly 200 undergraduate and 15 on-campus graduate students. Bowling
Green is a residential, comprehensive state supported university with roughly 19,000 undergraduate and graduate students.
