The Master of Family and Consumer Sciences (M.F.C.S.) degree, offered in the School of Family and Consumer Sciences, prepares
students for professional positions in business, industry, research, government, and various human service settings. The degree
also serves as an excellent background for students interested in obtaining a doctoral degree. Within the M.F.C.S. degree
program, students specialize in one of two areas: human development and family studies or food and nutrition. A detailed description
of the Master of Family and Consumer Sciences program is found under the heading of Family and Consumer Sciences in the “Graduate
Programs and Courses” section of this catalog.
