Middle Childhood Generalist Endorsement

To obtain the generalist endorsement, candidates must complete all courses indicated for the subject area and pass the PRAXIS II Elementary Content Knowledge Exam (Test # 0014) or the Praxis II Middle Childhood content exam (test codes listed above) appropriate for the area(s) to be added. Candidates must also maintain a minimum 2.8 GPA in each added subject area.

Only BGSU undergraduate/initial licensure students may take undergraduate courses toward the endorsement. Those already having their license must take these classes at the postbaccalaureate/ graduate level. Content taken at other institutions may be approved by petition based on faculty/College of Education and Human Development review of both the student’s grades and a detailed course description or syllabus of the courses to be substituted.

Upon satisfactory completion of endorsement coursework (2.8 GPA), students students should submit to the EDHD Office of Accreditation and Licensure (455 Education):

  1. An Ohio Department of Education Licensure Application

  2. Associated fees.

  3. An official transcript of final grades

  4. An official Praxis II score report confirming passage of the exam.

The Program Coordinator will verify compliance, and the Licensure Officer will finalize paperwork and submit it to the Ohio Department of Education for review.
