Research Interests
School counseling reform (using data to change programs to lead to academic success of all students), legal and ethical issues in counseling, working with GLBT student in the school setting and grief counseling with minors.

Brief Biography
Dr.. Huss joined the faculty in 1997.   Dr. Huss has been a leader in moving the Bowling Green State University Guidance and Counseling program in being a part of the Transforming School Counseling efforts of the National Center for Transforming School Counseling and the Education Trust efforts in education reform that advocates for the academic success of ALL students. Curriculum content has been changed as well as Internship requirements changed to meet the reform need in making school counseling part of the education reform movement in this country.   Bringing the use of data into program development and relating it to the academic success of all students is part of the mission of her work with school counselor groups she presents to as well as the partnership with Toledo Public School in their efforts to 'close the gap'.  

Dr. Huss has been extensively involved in assisting counselors in creating ethical work environments through her work in professional organizations as well as over 100 workshops in this area. She currently serves on the Ethics Committee of the American School Counselor Association.

Dr. Huss is past president of the Ohio Counseling Association and the Ohio Association for Counselor Education and Supervision. She currently serves as treasurer of the North Central Association of Counselor Education and Supervision.   Governor Taft re-appointed Dr. Huss to serve on the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker and Marriage and Family Therapist Board for the next three years.   This board licenses all mental health counselors in Ohio. She serves as Chair of the Counselor Professional Standards Committee of this Board.
