PEDS Report

Source Material:  The PEDS (Professional Education Data System) Report is a requirement to attain accreditation by the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (AACTE) and the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). Since the information and data required for this report are so diverse and widespread that multiple sources across the university are utilized in the collection of the required elements. Bowling Green State University administrative units that are utilized for information and/or data are as follows:

  • EDHD Dean’s Office
  • EDHD School Directors and Program Coordinators
  • Registration and Records Office
  • Graduate college
  • Colleges of Arts & Sciences, Music, and Technology

Much of the data included in the report is extracted from the University student records system which is provided to EDHD by the Institutional Research Office.

EDHD Report Content: The PEDS Report is divided into sections, each section dealing with different information set. They are follows:

  • Institutional Data includes contact information (administrator, address, phone etc) for select university and college offices. Aspects of the general structure of the institution and the professional education unit are reported in this section (degree levels, program levels, institution type, academic calendar system and accreditation information).
  • Institutional Enrollment disaggregates all students enrolled in the institution by undergraduate and graduate level. Within each level student enrollment numbers are further disaggregated by gender. Within each gender, student enrollment numbers are cross-tabulated by race and enrollment status (full-time, part-time).
  • Program Enrollment disaggregates all students enrolled in professional education programs by undergraduate and graduate level. Within each level student enrollment numbers are further disaggregated by gender. Within each gender, student enrollment numbers are cross-tabulated by race and enrollment status (full-time, part-time).
  • Degrees Conferred/Program Completers disaggregates all professional education program completers by degree level (Bachelor, Master, Specialist, Doctoral). Within each degree level, each teacher education program (identified by CIP code) offered by the institution is listed separately. Within each program, the frequency count of program completers is reported by race and by gender.
  • Professional Education Faculty segments professional education faculty members into the following cohorts:
  • By gender, cross-tabulated by employment status (full-time, part-time, adjunct) and race
  • Full-time professional education faculty showing number of credit hours taught and number of course sections taught by course level (undergraduate, graduate, or both)
  • Full-time professional education faculty cross-tabulated by tenure status and academic rank.
  • Revenue and Expenditures shows various categories of revenue and expenditures for both the institution and the College of Education.
  • Technology Education and Distance Learning describes the use and requirements of technology for teacher candidates in the teacher education programs. The number of distance learning courses (and enrollment) and the number of distance learning programs are reported for the undergraduate and the graduate levels.
