Description of the Activity:
During the first nine weeks, I have the students do a short oral presentation. They choose from a list of mathematicians, and each student in the class must present a different mathematician. Topics and dates to present are on a first come first serve basis. The topic list and a sign of sheet of available dates are posted the first day of school. Starting the second week of school, a student present at the beginning of class. The requirements are a three to six minute time limit, two sources, and a visual aid.

Extension:
A longer oral presentation can be assigned for the beginning of second semester dealing with other mathematical topics besides mathematicians.
Management Tips:
- Give the students different ideas for visual aids
- Use the visual aids to decorate the room
- Make available some of your own personal resources
