Topic: Multiplication facts--drill tests and self-assessment

Strategy:: Self-Assessment

Objective: To assess the understanding of the basic multiplication facts

Materials:
Pencil, duplicated set of 20 facts at the level the child has achieved, self-assessment guidelines

Description of the Activity:
Each child receives a 20 point quiz on the facts they think they have mastered. Within one minute, the student is to complete the quiz, and turn it into the teacher for correction. When the paper is returned, the student completes the self-assessment form to aid them in knowing what area they are weak in or need to continue their study.

Management Tips:
Keep track of students progress on a chart, so you can see the progress being made and be able to pass out the appropriate quiz to each student.
Encourage students to progress to the next fact level with in 3-4 days.
