The Master of Education in Classroom Technology degree (34 hours) and the Computer Technology Endorsement Certificate (16 hours) are available in COMPLETE ONLINE delivery format, as an option.
The Master of Education in Classroom Technology (MCT) program is an opportunity for teachers who want to earn a Master's degree and learn to use technology to enhance their students’ learning. The program is focused on skills and content related to 21st century teaching and learning. In addition, graduates will be prepared to demonstrate leadership capabilities for local, state or national educational technology initiatives. Students may apply for the Computer Endorsement from the Ohio Department of Education after completing the 16 hours of coursework identified for this credential. In addition, the 34-hour masters degree offers additional coursework in dynamic media, online teaching and learning, and media/information literacy.
While this program develops specific technical skills, the theme of the program is the continual development of the integration of technology into the school setting from a curriculum and instruction perspective. The relationship between choices made about how technology is used in learning settings and the effect of those choices on what is learned (and how it is learned) is seen as one of the major themes of the program. Two other major themes are: 1) the educator as change agent; and 2) the exploration and application of concepts and practices that will allow the teacher to use technology with students in active (as opposed to passive) learning settings.
The program is offered for the working professional. This is a program designed for part-time students, but it is possible for students to participate as full-time, if they choose, on campus or online. Graduate assistantships are available for full-time students, and should be applied for by January of each year.
The Master of Education in Classroom Technology is offered to cohorts, groups of students who begin the program together and progress through the sequence of courses together. One on-campus cohort of 18-20 students is admitted each spring/summer and begins coursework in the fall. Off-campus cohorts are periodically started in various locations throughout northwest Ohio, as resources allow, as well as online cohorts.

The off-campus cohorts for which we are currently recruiting will meet in the local site for all courses, except online/web-based courses. Students may also select to take the full programs completely online. See our Home Page for new cohorts being formed.
