The Master of Education in Classroom Technology is intended to educate leaders
in the area of classroom technology. These individuals will be capable
of working within their local Community of Practice and within the regional,
state and local areas of which they are a part to support and develop the
integration of technology into the learning experiences available through
schools and the community at large.
While this program develops specific technical skills, the theme of the
program is the continual development of the integration of technology into
the school setting from a curriculum and instruction perspective. The relationship
between choices made about how technology is used in learning settings
and the effect of those choices on what is learned (and how it is learned)
is seen as one of the major themes of the program. Two other major themes
are: 1) the educator as change agent; and 2) the exploration and application
of concepts and practices that will allow the teacher to use technology
with students in active (as opposed to passive) learning settings.
The program is offered for the working professional. This is a program
designed for part-time students only and is available only in the part-time
format specified. By successfully completing the program as specified
in these web pages, students who have a valid Ohio teaching certificate
or license qualify for the Ohio endorsement in computer/technology.
The Master of Education in Classroom Technology is offered to cohorts,
groups of students who begin the program together and progress through
the sequence of courses together. One on-campus cohort of 18-20 students
is admitted each spring and begins coursework in the summer. Off-campus
cohorts are periodically started in various locations throughout northwest
Ohio, as resources allow.

Course Descriptions and a Sample
Course Sequence can be viewed by clicking here or using the links
in the menu at the left. Answers to Frequently
Asked Questions, such
as information on transfer credits, when classes are scheduled, the GRE,
etc. are similarly available.
The off-campus cohorts for which we are currently recruiting will meet
in the local site for all courses, except online/web-based
courses. Currently 2-5 of the 11 required courses are available as web-based,
and online offerings for a specific cohort are dependent on instructor availability. See our Home Page for new cohorts being formed.
Instructional Fee Waiver
Students who are accepted into an off-campus cohort will receive an instructional
fee waiver for one semester hour
for
each course taken with the cohort. This is currently a savings of approximately
$481-$535 per course. See Costs and Waivers on
the menu on the left for more financial information.
