Executive Summary
The goal of the Civic Education Partnership Initiative (CEPI) is to bring together partners from the US and Morocco with the
experience and capacity to create significant impact on the teaching and learning of civic education in both countries. Working
together, the partners will bring to bear their considerable abilities in a manner that is mutually-reinforcing and complimentary.
With experience in international civic education, teacher education, curriculum development, education policy development,
major program completion and in-country expertise, the program partners aim to make the promise of civic education a reality.

Partnership Goals
- Contribute to the preparation of a responsible citizenry actively engaged in local, national and world communities;
- Enable constructive and respectful exchange of ideas about civic education and its implementation in both countries;
- Encourage communication and cooperation between primary/secondary and higher education;
- Improve the quality of faculty instruction, research, and resources available at universities;
- Contribute to the educational practices that cultivate lifelong critical, creative and independent thought, and civic engagement
and social responsibility;
- Prepare students to make a difference in the civic life of one’s community and develop the necessary combination of knowledge,
skills and values for effective citizenship;
- Create a sustainable partnership across academic and administrative units throughout and among different communities;
- Build upon the success of the Arab Civitas program.
