This course has been designed to focus on the basic concepts of civic education (citizenship competencies, place of the individual, fundamentals and foundations of constitutionalism and constitutional democracy, models of democracy, fundamental rights, freedoms and duties) and uses the active teaching and learning methodology for democratic learning.
Specifically, the objectives of this project were:

1. print an additional 8700 copies of the course materials; 2. recruit 200 teacher trainers as project participants; 3. conduct four train-the-trainers workshops in four different regions of
Ukraine; 4. conduct an evaluation of the effect of the materials on teachers and student
knowledge and attitudes about democracy.

Yalta ConferenceThe "Train the Trainers" workshop in Yalta was successfully conducted by the US -Ukrainian Civic Education Dissemination Project in close partnership between the All-Ukrainian Association of Teachers of History and Social Studies “Nova Doba” and Bowling Green State University, State Ohio, USA. The workshop was held October 8-12, 2003 in Yalta, Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
