Ohio Teachers Visit KwaZulu Natal
November 2003
In November2003 preservice teachers Adam Friend,
Penny Hill, Cameron Lazar, Awad
Ibrahim and Katie Ryan from Bowling Greeen State University Participated
in a teacher exchange with The Centre (Adam Friend, Penny Hill, Cameron
Lazar, Awad Ibrahim and Katie Ryan) took to South Africa. The trip
was part of the Civitas Africa 2003-exchange program between South
Africa and the USA. As a partnership between Ohio, Kentucky and South
Africa, Civitas Africa is intended to increase understanding of the
problems associated
with civic education for democracy in both emerging and established
democracies. It does so through, first, exchange between US and South
African educators,
including practicing and preservice teachers, second, curriculum material
development, teacher training, research and evaluation and, finally,
development of administrative support and supportive policies.
