By definition, the institute is subsumed under the School of Teaching
and Learning in the
College of Education and Human Development.
The organizational structure is based on a collaborative diffusion of responsibilities
and control that allows for the empowerment of individuals for independent
decision-making
while providing the necessary coordination and administrative support to streamline
project fund-raising, support and accounting. All faculty in the College
of Education and
Human Development and appropriate other faculty across campus are encouraged
to participate
in the Institute or become affiliated with the institute
in a manner appropriate to their
interest level in civic education.
