Dr. Patrick Pauken, Associate Professor Educational Administration and Leadership Studies
Dr. Patrick Pauken is an associate professor of Educational Administration and Leadership Studies at Bowling Green State University
(BGSU). Dr. Pauken’s primary teaching responsibilities include school law, special education law, and moral and ethical leadership.
From 2000-2003, Dr. Pauken served as chair of BGSU’s doctoral program in leadership studies. Pat has presented and published
in various areas of ethics and school law, including school violence, technology and cyberspace, copyright law, religion and
public school curriculum, special education, high-stakes testing, and zero tolerance. A frequent presenter at the Education
Law Association (ELA) and the University Council for Educational Administration, he has published articles in West's Education
Law Reporter, The Journal of School Leadership, Journal of Educational Administration, and the Journal of Urban and Contemporary
Law. He is also the editor and author of the quarterly publication Schools and the Courts for School Administration Publications.
In the fall of 2003, Pat presented a paper in comparative education law at the Australia and New Zealand Education Law Association
in Sydney, Australia. At BGSU, among service activities, he serves as parliamentarian of the Faculty Senate and is a member
of the University’s Committee on Professional Affairs and the Amendments and Bylaws Committee. He earned a bachelor's degree
in math and actuarial science from the Ohio State University and returned to OSU to earn a law degree in 1994 and a Ph.D.
in educational administration in 1997. Pat is a member of the Ohio Bar.
