The Sport Management Alliance is an undergraduate pre-professional student organization affiliated with the Sport Management, Recreation and Tourism Division. All Sport Management majors are eligible to join and participate in Alliance activities. Associate memberships are available to Sport Administration graduate students, and all faculty in the Sport Management, Recreation and Tourism Division are honorary SMA members.

The SMA holds general meetings during Fall and Spring semesters.

Involvement in the SMA plays a crucial role in professional development by providing numerous opportunities for students to use leadership skills and network with leaders in the sport management industry. Members participate in activities such as:
   • Publicity Committee
   • Hosting speakers who are leaders in the sport industry
   • Developing fundraising activities that benefit the SMA and various charities
   • Participating in professional development activities
   • Providing service to various organizations

Recent fundraising activities include:
Annual 5-on-5 Co-ed Indoor Soccer Tournament benefitting the Childrens' Miracle Network
Dance Marathon benefitting the Childrens' Network

Recent SMA professional activities include:
   • Computer skills workshop
   • Resume workshops
   • Field trips to:
        - Quicken Arena
        - Palace of Auburn Hills
        - Pontiac Silverdome
        - Yost Ice Arena
        - Football Hall of Fame
        - Jacobs Field

Recent SMA service activities include:
   • Crowd management at BGSU sporting events
   • Purchase of Sport Management academic materials and resources for the Mary Watt Learning      Resource Center
   • Participation in Student Organization Fair
   • Participation in BGSU Parents Day
   • Participation in WBGU telethons

Recent SMA social activities include:
   • Pizza parties
   • Holiday socials
   • Participation in various intramural sports
   • Attendance at Toledo Mud Hens baseball games
   • Attendance at Detroit Pistons basketball games
   • Attendance at Cleveland Cavaliers basketball games
   • Attendance at Cleveland Browns football games
   • Attendance at Cleveland Indians baseball games
   • Attendance at Detroit Tigers baseball games
