Admissions and Retentions

RECREATION MAJOR ADMISSIONS

Admissions
· Declare your intent to be a Recreation Major with career focus area at the Office of Student and Academic Services for the College of Education and Human Development (365 Education Building, phone: 419.372.7372). This office can assist in planning your initial courses for the Recreation Major. Declare any minors at this office also.
· After declaring your intent to major at Office of Student and Academic Services for the College of Education and Human Development, a faculty advisor will be assigned and you must meet the following Matriculation requirements for entry into the Recreation Major:
· Require a 2.5 accumulative GPA.
· Complete RTD 1900 and RTD 2100 with a 2.75 average
· Complete 30-32 hours of general education courses
· Maintain a 2.5 GPA to be eligible for field experience work (RTD 3870, 4870, and 4880)
· Complete the following courses in sequence: RTD 1900 and 2100, 3850, prior to being eligible for field experience
· Apply to the program by completion of a matriculation form near the end of the appropriate semester in which you will complete your admission requirements.
· Once informed of acceptance by letter, students may continue the sequence of professional core courses.
· If transferring into the program, must allow for at least 3 if not 4 semesters for course work and internship.

Recreation Major Retention
Each student must maintain an overall 2.5 GPA as a prerequisite for RTD 3870, RTD 4150, RTD 4830, RTD 4870, and RTD 4880
Adhere to all the prerequisites for RTD courses

Recreation Major Graduation
To graduate, a student must achieve a 2.5 accumulative GPA, meet degree requirements, and apply for graduation at the Office of Student and Academic Services for the College of Education and Human Development (365 Education Building, phone: 419.372.7372).

TOURISM MAJOR ADMISSIONS

Admissions
· Declare your intent to be a Tourism Major with an option area (Tourism Administration or Tourism Studies) at the Office of Student and Academic Services for the College of Education and Human Development (365 Education Building, phone: 419.372.7372). This office can assist in planning for your initial courses in Tourism. Declare any minors here also.
· After declaring your intent to major at the Office of Student and Academic Services for the College of Education and Human Development, a faculty advisor will be assigned and you must meet the following Matriculation requirements for entry into the Tourism Major:
· 2.5 overall GPA.
· Must have completed RTD 1900 (Tourism Administration) or RTD 2100 (Tourism Studies) and 2150 with a "C" or above.
· 34-42 General education hours completed
· Apply to the program by completion of a Matriculation form at the end of the appropriate semester.
· Once informed of acceptance by letter, students may continue the sequence of professional core courses.

· Students who transfer into the program must allow for at least 3 if not 4 semesters to complete course work, plus an internship.
