Several honors and awards are available to SMRT majors. Listed below are seven awards with a brief description and application criteria for each.

Athletic Training/Clinic Management Awards:

Al Sawdy Outstanding Student Trainer Award
This award is given to a junior or senior Athletic Training (AT) student. To be eligible, a student must have a 3.0 GPA in AT and a 2.5 GPA overall. Also, the student should be able to show service to the University AT program and have professional involvement. The recipient will be given a certificate and have his/her name added to a plaque in the Memorial Hall Training Room.

Tyson Memorial Scholarships:
Applications are available for students majoring in: Health Education, Health Promotion, Athletic Training, Exercise Specialist, Human Movement Science. Applicants must be rising seniors enrolled as full-time students at BGSU, have a minimum GPA of 3.0 in their major field of study, and provide a short essay describing professional goals and objectives.

Sport Management Awards:

Outstanding Sport Management Senior:
This award is given to the senior in Sport Management who best demonstrates the qualities of scholarship, leadership, and professional involvement/development. It consists of a plaque for the recipient and the recipient's name on a plaque in the Sport Management offices. To be eligible a student must have GPA of at least 2.75.

Magdalena Muniz-Fribley Scholarship in Sport Management:
This award is given to a full-time rising senior in the Sport Management program. To be eligible a student must have completed at least 90 hours of credits, with 30 being completed at BGSU. The award will be given on the basis of involvement in professional service and professional growth activities, financial need, and academic achievement.

M. Joy Sidwell Award for Outstanding Sport Management Internship Project:
This award is given to the Sport Management intern who completes the most extraordinary and distinguished project. This decision is made by a panel of sport management experience faculty.

Recreation and Tourism awards:

Abby Lynn Hettel Memorial Award:
This award is given to a rising junior or senior with a minimum GPA of 3.0 who demonstrates leadership potential, among other selection criteria.

Recreation Service Award:
This award is given to a senior Recreation major who has demonstrated outstanding service to the SMRT Division. Through this service, this senior should have given unselfishly for the betterment of others. The recipient receives a certificate and a $50.00 savings bond.

Andrews-Hooley Award:
This award is given to a senior Recreation and Tourism major. To be eligible a student must have at least a 2.80 GPA, demonstrate professional contributions and leadership, show a dedication to and enthusiasm for the profession. and have an articulation of the profession. The recipient of the award receives a certificate.
