Welcome to the School of Human Movement, Sport, and Leisure Studies (HMSLS). The School of HMSLS shares the BGSU vision of being the premier learning community in Ohio and one of the best in the nation. In concert with the College of Education and Human Development, we foster a dynamic community of lifelong learners and leaders. We are committed to the creation, enhancement, and dissemination of knowledge in the fields of human movement, sport, and leisure. As agents of change, we strive to fulfill this commitment through exemplary scholarship, creative endeavors, teaching and service. The School of HMSLS encourages academic excellence, brings different disciplines together, and advocates social justice that is based upon a knowledge and appreciation of human diversity.
The School of HMSLS includes six undergraduate programs: Athletic Training; Dance; Exercise Science; Physical Education Teacher Education; Sport Management; and Tourism, Leisure and Event Planning. In addition, the School offers three graduate programs: Kinesiology; Sport Administration; and Leisure and Tourism. We also provide Physical Education General courses as well as three minors: Adapted Physical Education; Dance; and Recreation to the whole University. Our dynamic faculty members are highly committed to both undergraduate and graduate education. They excel in the areas of teaching, scholarship, and service to our students. The School offers nationally recognized programs that prepare students for a variety of careers and increase their quality of life.
