We are all brothers and sisters no matter what race, religion, color or nationality and love is the only thing that will maintain a civilized world. We must learn more about each other in order to love one another. That is why I believe so strongly in international travel.

The Donald D. Gehring Global Leadership Fund has been established to provide an endowment for use in supporting students who choose to travel to complete the Global Understanding requirment of the BGSU Higher Education Administration program. Although many host universities provide financial support in the form of housing, board, and/or a stipend, the travel costs and other incidentals can make an international internship cost prohibitive for a doctoral student living on an assistantship.

Students must present to the HIED faculty a formal proposal for completion of the Global Understanding requirement, including a proposed budget. Once the Gehring Fund has reached endowment status, students may also apply for up to $1250 from the Gehring Fund. A fund committee will select award winners based upon merit of the proposal and the total amount of funds available.
