Summary |

The BGSU HESA UK Tour
is designed specifically for graduate students in the
Division of Higher Education and Student Affairs, student
affairs professionals, and other university administrators
who wish to gain exposure to a different culture, examine
the effects of that culture on a country's system of
higher education, and explore the actual and potential
effects of international exchange. Through readings,
discussions, and site visits participants will have
the opportunity to experience higher education and student
affairs in the British context. For 14 days, participants
will travel through England and Scotland visiting various
universities, speaking with administrators, meeting
faculty, and interacting with students.

• Internationalize your perspective of student

student services
• Visit Alnwick Castle (voted Britian's top tourist sight)
• Interact with British higher education professionals,
faculty, and students
• Discover the history, culture, and beauty of
Great Britain
• Stay in the Harry Potter castle
• Enjoy free time to explore the cities of Edinburgh,
Durham, Oxford, and London

Course
Information
Participants are encouraged to register for course
credit by enrolling in CSP 695 HESA UK Study Tour (graded
S/U). Students will be required to complete course work
in addition to trip participation. It is expected that
ALL study tour participants, regardless of whether or
not they are taking the course for credit, will be full
and active participants while abroad and prior to departure.
BGSU participants will be required to attend
ALL pre-departure orientation sessions; non-BGSU participants have the option of participating in predeparture sessions at BGSU or online.

Day 1: Flight—Detroit to Edinburgh
Day 2: Arrive at Edinburgh airport. Stay @ Dalkeith Palace
Day 3: Wisconsin in Scotlan program @ Dalkeith Palace
Day 4: Day in Edinburgh. Visit the University
of Edinburgh.
Day 5: Possible visit to Glasgon University and St. Andrew's University
Day 6: St. Cloud State University - Center for British Studies @ Alnwick Castle
Day 7: Durham University
Day 8: Day at Keele University of York St. John University
Day 9: Oxford. Tour Oxford University.
Day 10: FREE day in Oxford.
Day 11:Depart Oxford for London. FREE evening in London
Day 12: Tour local university in London. Explore London!

Program Cost
The total cost for the BGSU HESA UK Tour is $2050. Given fluctuating
exchange rates, we reserve the right to adjust the cost of
the tour to reflect changes in rates. If you register for
CSP 695, credit hours will apply toward your summer 2008 class
schedule.

• All accommodations in hotels and Alnwick Castle
• Some meals (breakfast daily, some lunches and dinners)

Payment Schedule
November 9th $150 deposit Due (Fee is applied towards total
cost of trip. $100 is non-refundable. $50 is refundable until
March 1.)

Program Faculty
Dr. Ellen Broido is an Associate Professor
in the Department of Higher Education and Student
Affairs at BGSU and an affiliated faculty member in Women's Studies.
Ms. Evelyn Ashley is a second year doctoral student in HIED. She is an intern in Student and Academic Services in the College of EDHD.
