New Zealand 2009 Study Tour (May 18 - June 2)

The BGSU HESA New Zealand 2009 Tour is designed specifically for graduate students in the Division of Higher Education and
Student Affairs, student affairs professionals, and other university administrators who wish to gain exposure to a different
culture, examine the effects of that culture on a country's system of higher education, and explore the actual and potential
effects of international exchange. Through readings, discussions, and site visits participants will have the opportunity to
experience higher education and student affairs in the New Zealand context. On this study tour participants will travel throughout
New Zealand visiting various universities, speaking with administrators, meeting faculty, and interacting with students.

Course Information WHO CAN PARTICIPATE? Anyone can join us on this fabulous learning experience! We welcome participation from those in and outside
of the Bowling Green State University community.
Program Highlights
- Visit universities including:
- University of Waikato
- University of Otago
- University of Auckland
- Victoria University of Wellington
- Te Wānanga o Aotearoa (Maori institution in Hamilton)
- Internationalize your perspective of student affairs and learn about study abroad and international student services
- Interact with New Zealand higher education professionals, faculty, and students
- Learn more about the indigenous people of New Zealand, the Maori
- Discover the history, culture, and beauty of New Zealand
- Enjoy free time to explore the sights of New Zealand
Tour & Course Highlights
Participants are encouraged to register for course credit by enrolling in HIED 780 HESA New Zealand Study Tour. Students will
be required to complete course work in addition to trip participation. It is expected that ALL study tour participants, regardless
of whether or not they are taking the course for credit, will be full and active participants while abroad and prior to departure.
BGSU Participants
PRE-DEPARTURE MEETINGS
Participants will be required to participate in ALL pre-departure orientation sessions and group activities. There will be
five pre-departure meetings.
**All pre-departure sessions will take place monthly on selected Fridays from 1.30pm-4.20pm @ BGSU**
NON-BGSU Participants
Individuals who are not affiliated with BGSU are encouraged to join us on the 2009 BGSU HESA New Zealand Study Tour. There
will be five pre-departure sessions that will be held at Bowling Green State University during the Spring semester. If you
are unable to attend these sessions, program staff will work with you to receive any information shared at these sessions.

Program Cost The total cost for the BGSU HESA New Zealand Study Tour is $3,990 (estimated). Given fluctuating exchange rates, we reserve
the right to adjust the cost of the tour to reflect changes in rates. If you register for HIED 780, credit hours will apply
toward your summer 2009 class schedule.

Payment Schedule
December 8th - $300 deposit DUE
Fee is applied towards total cost of trip. $200 is non-refundable. $100 is refundable until February 1.
February 1, 2009 - 1st Half balance DUE
April 1, 2009 - 2nd Half DUE
