UK Study Tour

PROGRAM SUMMARY  

The BGSU HESA UK Tour is designed specifically for graduate students in the Division of Higher Education and Student Affairs, student affairs professionals, and other university administrators who wish to gain exposure to a different culture, examine the effects of that culture on a country's system of higher education, and explore the actual and potential effects of international exchange. Through readings, discussions, and site visits participants will have the opportunity to experience higher education and student affairs in the British context. For 14 days, participants will travel through England and Scotland visiting various universities, speaking with administrators, meeting faculty, and interacting with students.

• Enjoy free time to explore the cities of Edinburgh, Cambridge, and London

COURSE INFORMATION
Participants are encouraged to register for course credit by enrolling in CSP 6950 HESA UK Study Tour (graded S/U). Students will be required to complete course work in addition to trip participation. It is expected that ALL study tour participants, regardless of whether or not they are taking the course for credit, will be full and active participants while abroad and prior to departure.
BGSU participants will be required to attend ALL pre-departure orientation sessions; non-BGSU participants have the option of participating in predeparture sessions at BGSU or online.

**All pre-departure sessions will take place on Fridays from 1:00 p.m. - 3:45 p.m. at BGSU**

2010 UK TOUR ITINERARY (TENTATIVE) 
Proposed travel dates - May 11 through May 25, 2010
Day 1: Depart Detroit 
Day 2: Arrive at Edinburgh, Wisconsin in Scotland Program 
Day 3: University of Edinburgh, University of Glasgow 
Day 4: St. Andrew's University 
Day 5: Free day in Edinburgh 
Day 6: Holy Island/Lindisfarne, Alnwick Castle 
Day 7: St. Cloud State University - Center for British Studies at Alnwick Castle.  
Day 8:  Free time to explore Alnwick
Day 9: York St John University, Free time to explore York 
Day 10: FREE time in Cambridge
Day 11: Walking tour and college presentation at  Cambridge 
Day 12: FREE day in London 
Day 13: FREE day in London
Day 14: London Metropolitan University or University College London
Day 15: Arrive home

PROGRAM COST
The total cost for the BGSU HESA UK Tour is $2500 for BGSU students and $2600 for non-BGSU students. Given fluctuating exchange rates, we reserve the right to adjust the cost of the tour to reflect changes in rates. If you register for CSP 6950, credit hours will apply toward your summer 2010 class schedule.

• Flights to and from the UK
• Transportation within the UK
• All accommodations (e.g. Dalkeith Palace, Alnwick Castle, hotels and hostels)
• Some meals (breakfast daily, some lunches and dinners)
• Program activities, tours, and guides
• Course credits (for BG students/staff only)
• International Student Identity Card

If you are interested in seeking funding to help cover the cost of the trip, consider the following options:

PAYMENT SCHEDULE
November 16, 2009 $200 deposit Due (Fee is applied towards total cost of trip. $150 is non-refundable. $50 is refundable until March 1.) 
February 5, 2010 $1150 Due/$1200 non-BGSU students
April 19, 2009 $1150 Due/$1200 non-BGSU students
